Family

The Family is a domestic group of people, or a number of domestic groups affiliated by blood or by a variety of legal ties such as marriage, domestic partnership, and adoption. A family has some degree of kinship.

Families are the first and most important component of psychological environment for most children.

Since families differ in many respects, so does their influence imprinting upon their children. An old observation says: "If you want to know the future of any society, look on the ways how their children are raised, and you will know the future".

Many anthropologists say that the notion of "blood" must be understood metaphorically because there are many societies where families are understood through other concepts rather than "blood", such as slavery in the Roman Empire.

Article 16(3) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says, "Families are the natural and fundamental group units of society and are entitled to protection by society and the State".
